info mendelevium

Chemical Element:

Information: Mendelevium

Known Methods of Extraction

Mendelevium is a synthetic, highly radioactive actinide, first produced in 1955 by bombarding einsteinium-253 with alpha particles. It does not occur naturally and is made in extremely small amounts in specialized nuclear reactors or particle accelerators. Its isotopes are used exclusively for scientific research, particularly in studying the chemistry of the heaviest actinides.
