## **Buttermilk Dressing**

*Serves 4*

### **Ingredients**

* 3 tablespoons buttermilk
* 1 cup mayonnaise
* 2 tablespoons snipped chives **or**

  * 1 teaspoon dried chives
* 2 teaspoons dried dill
* 1½ teaspoons sugar
* ½ teaspoon pepper
* 1 medium head iceberg lettuce

### **Make Ahead**

Buttermilk dressing can be prepared ahead and kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 or 4 days.

### **Directions**

1. **Make dressing.**
   Blend buttermilk and mayonnaise in a small bowl. Add chives, dill, sugar and pepper and mix well.

2. **Prepare lettuce.**
   Remove lettuce core. Rinse lettuce under cold running water and drain well. Wrap in paper towels to remove the remaining moisture.

3. **Cut wedges.**
   Cut lettuce into wedges. Place each wedge on individual salad plates.

4. **Serve.**
   Drizzle dressing over lettuce wedges just before serving. Store any remaining dressing in the refrigerator.

### **Variation**

For yogurt dressing, use plain yogurt for the buttermilk or mayonnaise and seasoned pepper for the plain black pepper.
